I keep receiving emails from the UK saying that I have won an international email lottery. It’s quite a lot of money and I don’t know if it’s legitimate or not. I’m not usually one to play the lottery so I haven’t pursued it. This is the address that it comes from: The National Lottery
PO Box 1010
Liverpool L70 1NL United Kingdom.

Does anyone know if this is legitimate or is it spam?

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES…

HOWEVER…..DO THE ADDESSES THA T I HAVE ATTACHED BELOW APPEAR AS THOUGH THEY ARE NOT FROM
A YAHOO MAIL ACCOUNT…..THEY LOOK
LIKE IT TO ME. THESE BUSINESSES/ INDIVIDUALS ARE DEFINATELY
USING YAHOO MAIL SERVICES TO
SEND FRAUDULENT MATERIAL TO
OTHER YAHOO MAIL RECIPIENTS.
THEY ARE MERELY PRETENDING TO
BE OFFICIALS NOTIFYING NORMAL
YAHOO MAIL USERS OF UNBELIEVABLE WINNINGS AND THEN ASKING YOU TO
SEND HUGE AMOUNTS OF CASH BACK
TO THEM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO
SEND YOU MONEY THAT YOU HAVE
NOT REALLY WON.

TO ASK IF I WOULD PREFER THAT
YAHOO SENSOR MAIL IS WAY OFF
TRACK. I JUST BELIEVE THAT IT
SHOULDN’T ALLOW THIS TYPE OF
DECEPTION TO GO ON THROUGH
YAHOOS’ SERVICES. YAHOO SHOULD ATTEMPT TO PUT A STOP TO IT…..I THINK MOST NORMAL FOLKS WOULD
ALSO AGREE….!

I assume its a virus or solicitation or something. I didn’t open it, but I clicked it (you know how Yahoo Mail works, you can click it and see it underneath your inbox before opening it) and I got two. I don’t even think there is a National Lottery, just state lotterys, right? and even so, I don’t buy lottery tickets, so I know I didn’t win. It had something at the bottom saying its been scanned for viruses and believed to be clean, but I bet that’s just a hoax. I think the whole thing is a scam because it asks for your name, address, phone number, etc. Its probably some creep. But yeah, did this happen to anyone else or does anyone know anything about it? Or any opinions I guess. thanks in advance for answers.

but considering I don’t do lottery, I know for a fact it isn’t legit.
